The province of Cádiz runs from the old port city on its peninsula through the sherry triangle of Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar, down the Costa de la Luz to Tarifa and round to Sotogrande.
Cádiz
Climb Torre Tavira for the camera obscura and the view over the rooftops, and eat fish in La Viña.
The sherry towns
Visit a bodega in Jerez, see the horses of the Real Escuela, and drink manzanilla by the river at Sanlúcar.
Aponiente, in a tidal mill at El Puerto de Santa María, holds three MICHELIN stars (2026 guide).
The coast and Sotogrande
Vejer and Tarifa look over the Atlantic beaches. At the eastern end, Sotogrande has its polo club, marina and golf; for Valderrama and Finca Cortesín, see our Marbella guide.
Our advice: book bodega visits in advance, and avoid driving after tastings.
