About Córdoba: the back story

Córdoba was the capital of al-Andalus, and its historic centre, around the Mosque-Cathedral, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In May, its flower-filled patios open to visitors.

The Mosque-Cathedral

Book on the official site and go early. Then cross the Roman bridge for the view back.

The patios

Córdoba’s Patios festival is held in May; the Palacio de Viana shows its patios all year.

Córdoba now has three MICHELIN-starred restaurants, including three-star Noor (2026 guide).

Eating

Noor holds three stars; Choco and ReComiendo, new in 2026, hold one each.

Our advice: Córdoba is on the high-speed line between Seville and Málaga, so it is easy to add as a stop.
