Granada is the Alhambra’s city: the palaces and gardens on their hill, the Albaicín facing them across the Darro, the caves of the Sacromonte and, behind it all, the Sierra Nevada.
The Alhambra
Book well ahead on the official ticket site only. Your Nasrid Palaces time is fixed; give yourself half a day for the whole site.
The Albaicín and Sacromonte
Walk up to the Mirador de San Nicolás for sunset, and on to the Sacromonte for flamenco in the caves.
The Alhambra’s tickets are in your name, with a fixed time for the Nasrid Palaces: bring the ID you booked with.
The mountains
Sierra Nevada National Park is less than an hour away, with the Alpujarra villages on its southern side. For skiing, see our Ski Resorts guide.
Our advice: stay two nights, so that the Alhambra is not a rush.
